Trish Hoppey, Partner:
A founding partner at Pivot and the former Managing Partner at MSHC Partners, Trish Hoppey has more than 20 years’ experience developing winning messages for presidential, gubernatorial, independent expenditure, issue advocacy and membership campaigns. She has developed direct mail strategies for clients including Hillary Clinton for President, Governors Pat Quinn (IL), Jennifer Granholm (MI) and Tom Vilsack (IA), as well as some of the nation’s largest political and advocacy groups, including AFL-CIO, EMILY’s List WOMEN VOTE!, Planned Parenthood, NEA and the DCCC. An avid foodie, Trish’s not-so-secret dream is to one day open a comfort food restaurant in her U Street neighborhood, featuring the delicious desserts her mother used to serve.
Dean Levitan, Partner:
Dean is a founding partner at Pivot with a reputation of helping Democrats win in red districts. He has crafted winning messages and strategies for down-ballot races in districts where the top-of-the-ticket has lost – in some cases by more than 10 points – throughout the country. Prior to becoming a direct mail consultant, Dean spent a decade running campaigns around the country, from state legislative to big city mayoral to U.S. Senate. An avid soccer fan, when not working on campaigns you will catch Dean watching his favorite team, Tottenham Hotspurs, or preparing his son and younger daughter for careers in English Premier League Football.
Beth Hernandez, Director of Texas Office:
Beth heads Pivot’s Texas office and has 12 years of experience in political direct mail. In addition, she has served as a Campaign Manager, Press Secretary, and in government affairs and public relations roles at a nonprofit organization and a public relations firm. Her commitment to progressive causes has included volunteer service with Progress Texas, Capital Area Democratic Women, Planned Parenthood and Democratic GAIN. Beth lives in Austin with her husband and two sons. When not working, Beth retreats to her favorite places – visiting her hometown New Orleans, tasting wine in Napa or lying on the beach in Puerto Aventuras, Mexico.
Natalie LeBlanc, Director of California Office:
Natalie runs our California operation and has worked in progressive politics for over fifteen years. A veteran of field and mail campaigns up and down the ballot, Natalie currently works with the Oregon State House Democratic Caucus and a number of congressional, state legislative and local candidates in California. Natalie is passionate about electing women to office and currently serves an advisor to Emerge California and a member of their Campaign Advisory Team. A passionate runner, she is thrilled to be back in Berkeley, California, where running outside 365 days a year is possible – though she does miss the bourbon drinking of the South.
Jason Miller, Senior Vice President:
Jason has developed winning direct mail and interactive strategies for dozens of campaigns and advocacy organizations, including SEIU, the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee and the Virginia Senate. Previously, Jason put hundreds of thousands of miles on his car working on Democratic campaigns across the country. And when Jason’s not on the road, he’s in the air. Over the past decade, Jason has accumulated more than three million frequent-flyer miles – most of which came from his obsessive commitment to tracking mileage promotions. If you need help booking an elusive award ticket with your accumulated miles, Jason’s your guy.
Joel Rivlin, Senior Vice President:
Joel’s experience on campaigns on both sides of the Atlantic, and academic training at the Universities of Oxford and Wisconsin, have allowed him to help pioneer a range of analytic tools for campaigns and progressive organizations. In addition to analytics and microtargeting projects, Joel makes sure all the Pivot’s mail goes to the best possible audience and that targeting is incorporated into all parts of the creative process. When he’s not working, you’ll most likely to find Joel looking through a camera at his family and friends.
Lionel Dripps, Vice President:
Lionel Dripps has spent his career electing Democrats across the country to state and federal office.  Along the way he has gathered on-the-ground experience in Virginia, Wisconsin and Colorado as a field operative, a manager and eventually caucus director for the Colorado Senate Democrats during their successful 2012 elections.  Lionel brings his extensive experience developing messaging and managing programs to the Pivot team. He has an expert knowledge of Chipotles on the drive to major battleground states, and is a firm believer in llama-based campaigning.
Jeannie Carlson, Vice President:
Jeannie Carlson brings over a decade of political experience with her to The Pivot Group. She began her career while still in college, as Congresswoman Loretta Sanchez’s Deputy Finance Director. In 2008, she was part of the communication team for Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign in Nevada, New Mexico, Ohio, and Indiana. She served as deputy campaign manager for the Suffolk County Coordinated Campaign in 2011, winning all 10 targeted races. Jeannie has developed creative, award winning mail programs from Hawaii to New Hampshire, Arizona to Florida. Her past clients have included Senator Elizabeth Warren, Everytown for Gun Safety, Senator Harry Reid, Planned Parenthood, EMILY’s List, and the Colorado State House Caucus, just to name a few. Jeannie’s loyalty to her candidates is only matched by her loyalty to her beloved, yet often disappointing Oakland A’s.
Sarah Giordano, Production Director:
Sarah brings 18 years of production experience to Pivot, including fundraising, voter registration and political persuasion mail. Sarah is such an innovator and expert in all things print and postage that other progressive direct mail firms come to her for advice. Sarah is based in upstate New York, where she attempts to combat sub-zero winters by burning outdated copies of USPS regulations, which seem to change weekly and supply an ample amount of combustible material. Plus, it’s oddly satisfying.
Nick Snyder, Creative Services Director:
Nick has more than seven years of experience in the creative world developing advertising for clients that range from Coca-Cola to political campaigns. At home, Nick’s creativity takes a backseat to watching FSU football with his wife, black lab and overweight, radio-flyer-riding English bulldog.
Stacey Maloney, Design Director:
Stacey has ten years of design and marketing experience for clients in politics, finance, education and art. Originally from the village of Waynesville, Ohio, Stacey now enjoys the city life with her husband, Terry, and toy poodle, Lil Andy Warhol.
Em Parsons, Senior Graphic Designer:
Em brings seven years of oddly varied design experience (from newspaper ads to board games), a lifetime of doodling, and a cable news addiction to Pivot. She values the use of design for the greater good, as well as the ability to wear many artistic (and jaunty!) hats in order to get the job done. She shares a home with her husband and spoiled pug dog, and proudly roots for UConn’s men’s and women’s basketball teams.
Woody Jang, Accountant:
